Mods for 99 M3; Getting started

Hey everyone,

I just got a 99 M3 and absolutely love the performance. But, I was sadly beaten off a red light by a newer looking audi (probably 2010 or later) yesterday and looking for a little (or a lot) more 0-60 power. I've already done the Turner/aFe CAI with heat dam, and want YOUR opinions on what to do next. To shark or not to shark? Dinan chip? Is an exhaust (which brands produce the most power without sounding like a total douchenozzle) worth it? How hard is it really and how much time would be required to install a turbocharger and how badly could I possibly screw it up and what are the consequences? If you've tried any of these things your opinions would be the most valuable.

If you're only after a little power. Intake, exhaust, cams and shark will help.
If you want lots you're going to have to look at FI from some like VF or AA.

Aftermarket exhausts on M3 normally only make a couple hp difference but can change the sound a lot. Best is to jump onto youtube and have a listen to the systems because something that sounds good to me may sound horrible to you.

What's your mechanical aptitude like? If you've rebuilt an engine before a turbo install will be a breeze, if not it's still doable if you take your time.
If you got a full turbo kit there's not too much to screw up. The hardest bit is probably pulling the sump and welding a bung in.
Consequences? As long as you take your time with the install, not over boosting and the new computer is doing it's job... none really.

I don't have an M3 but I've done my fair share of turbo and SC work over the years.
