93 BMW 325is...excessive smoke from tailpipe.

Postby rcheing on Wed Mar 25, 2009 5:57 pm

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to stop by and ask the community for some help. I recently bought a 1993 BMW 325is which appears to run OK. The car accelerates good and all belts, rotors and brakes were recently replaced. The person told me it still needs a rack and pinion job, which is why after a cold start I have to "break" the steering loose when I turn to the left, other than that, everything seems to be OK. The car currently has 140K. Also, when I turn the car on from a cold start, smoke starts pouring out of the tailpipe which in my opinion is a little excessive, my RAV4 barely smokes. A friend told me it's not really smoke but more like moisture, it is white in color and I have checked the car for coolant leaks and it's OK, the tailpipe also has some water dripping out, especially when I accelerate, you see a small jet of water shoot out of the tailpipe. The water is murky dark. Have you guys experienced this? Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Ricardo Cheing

Try to use Injector cleaner. I recall that I've faced the same problem and that's how I solved it.
