95 E36 316i can i change an engine from a manual to an Auto
Posted: Sun Sep 20, 2009 7:41 pmI've just bought a 1995 316i Compact Automatic but unfortunately there was a problem with the radiator and the head gasket blew, when i took it to my garage to get it mended he told me that the head is beyond repair because at sometime someone put in a helicoil and they drilled into the water jacket - so now he says it would be better to just put in a different engine - so my question is can i put an engine in from a manual vehicle by just changing over the flywheel and torque converter from my automatic or is the crankshaft different on the manual car Thanx for any help Alan
