I'm from the U.S. East Tennessee to be exact. I don't know what it would cost here, I have yet to find and call anybody to do it. But if $320 is cheaper, even by just a little bit, than I might have to wait until I have some more money to get this done. And except for the seats, I should probably get done everything you did.

Hi all,
In my 318i 1998, the fabric on the back doors was ....well.... seperated from the door (compliments to my 5 year ols son..).
How do I take the part that's coverd with fabric off the door panel?
I guess I'll take it to an upholsterer after I take it off...

Hi, here in England I purchased a new door card from BMW as I have blue interior and wasn't able to find anything in a scrappy but it did cost!!! .......was £284 for 1 card without fixings, speaker grills or the handle!

Hey guys... it's real easy to do it yourself.

Just remove the door trims from the doors, the hard fibrous moulded insert with the leather/vinyl/velor covering can be separated (it's glued on) from the door card and then it's a simple matter:

Remove old material from the section.
Remove / scrape off old adhesive.
Select your choice of fabric or leather and glue it onto the section,starting from the middle (lowest point) and work your way outwards,while stretching to prevent creases.
Re-attach (glue) the section to the door card.
Use contact cement, thinly applied to both faces for adhesion, left until 3/4 dry before joining.

As an upholsterer I can say that those are not easy to stretch on there.... I am in the process of putting black suede throughout the inside. So far I've got the headliner, all the pillars, and the toolbox in the trunk... the door panel inserts are going to be last. Our shop charges about $40 each to recover those, and if done right, there should be no wrinkles in the material. Re-fastening them to the door panel itself is a real pain in the a$$... The panel needs to be removed first. apply silicone (hint: liquid nails works great) and press the insert into place on the panel, put some weight on it or clamp it down and let it sit for a few hours and the adhesive should set and be perfect, I would advise doing this part yourself as most upholstery shops aren't going to get this right.....

I have seen them on Craigs list and on e-bay...from pricey to reasonable...salvage yard is best, particularly if you have "pick a parts" or other where you pull your own.
