Is the ABS working?
ASC is little sensors in the rear wheels that detect the wheel moving, when they detect that the wheel is spinning and no longer getting full grip, the little sensors send a message to the ECU to cut power to the wheels in several diff ways, can me by applying brakes or cutting fuel delivery to one cyclinde to retarding the timing ignition. The ASC has controls over the ABS and if anything fails with the ASC then your ABS can go aswel. The first thing to check would be your ASC sensors and ABS sensors. ABS sensors are cheap to replace and as far as i know, ASC are a little more money but still cheap.

But..........
If your ABS is working when braking hard, then its just the ABS bulb in the instrument cluster that needs replacing.

Hope this helps you!

many thanks for the starting point havent yet had time to check wheel sensors but will make time this weekend could it be a relay as asc does not work either ie nothing happens when i push the button ? its as if somebody has taken a fuse out !!! or cut the wires if that makes sence its a dead as a ford !!
