Another idle issue

Postby New2M3 on Sun Jun 13, 2010 9:02 pm

Ok, This Is so weird and I have searched but couldn't find anything about this I tried google this forum and Bimmerforums.

Ok, so about 2 weeks ago I was sitting waiting in my car with the a/c on not full blast, but on..... for about 10-15 mins waiting on my friend to come out his house. The car is idiling fine then at about 7-9 mins in the engine gets louder. And my car starts shaking but the idle rpms dont move.

Thinking maybe its just exhaust backed up in the exhaust system I drive a little bit to get the exhaust out of the system. The car seems kind of sluggish and isnt as responsive. But after driving down the street it is all better and goes right back to normal.

This is very weird because its keeps doing it but its real random sometimes ill be sitting still for 5 mins and it will start shaking and be loud and then sometimes I can sit for 10-15 mins and its fine.

What do you think it could be???
My ICV??

I dont know if the car will do it without the a/c on I think its only with the a/c on but I can try it to see what happens but I get nervous when it happens because my car sounds like a diesel truck and shakes.

Any thoughts???

Hi, your going to have to check to see if it does it when the A/C is off.
Need to make certain its the A/C thats at fault here before anyone can give you help to fix it.
If it is the A/C id check the compressor and the auxiliary drive belt powering it.
Sounds like the compressor is bunched and laboring the engine when at idle. That or else the auxiliary drive belt needs to be replaced but not very likely.
Let us know how you fare out.

Its very hard to diagnose without seeing it but it does sound like the compressor is laboring the engine. If your not certain what your doing id take it to a mechanic. Its a tricky job to make certain it is the compressor.
