auto gear slipping

Postby Thug4life on Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:10 pm

Hello everybody, I am having trouble with my auto gear box in my 316i it keeps slipping when i break suddenly and it jumps back in when i hit the gas, almost taking my head off. I had this problem last year and it was the ATF that was low,so when i topped it up the problem stopped. However this time the ATF is fine but its still slipping out of gear.Anyone know what else i can try.

You could have a blockage, try a good A.T.F. flush. Use "novastop ATF flush" from personal experience its the best you can get. Then fill up with the noted ATF. Your gearbox should state what fluid to use or there may be a colored label to correspond with a certain type of ATF. If it doesn't state what one then use "Dexron III"
ATF with too thin a viscosity may be causing your problem but best to do the ATF flush aswel. Do a bit of research and try find a guide to doing the gearbox flush if your not sure how to do it. Don't just pull the sump and refill, that only gets 1/5 of the ATF out.
