hey just bought a 1994 320i. love the car but im not happy with the performance of the engine when its low down in the rev range. i was wondeing if there is any modification shourt of an engine change that will improve this. i knew it was going to be slow but not this bad! i had it checked out aswell and the engine is in perfect running order. apparently its the normal characteristic of this engine??
any help would be appreciated

A stock 2-liter is never going to fly... and E36's seem to favour highway cruising to racing people from the lights.
I’m sure some people will disagree with me but I’d say intake is your first port of call. Making sure you intake isn’t the bottle neck in the system is easy to do and will at the very least make you sound faster.
Also make sure you’re running premium rather than regular because the knock sensors tell the computer and you’ll be able to run at a higher compression ratio. Still might not make you fly but every little bit adds up right?
