Car will not start

Postby jdolphfan01 on Sat Feb 16, 2013 12:17 am

93 BMW 7401 will not start, does not do anything when I turn the switch. No light indicators come on when I turn the switch just radio and odometer reading. I suspect its the on board computer alarm system that will not allow the car to start it is displaying "PPPP".

Please help

You'll probably find more help on a forum that deals with E32s instead of an E36 forum.
That being said if it PPPP came up on an E36 the first thing to try would be disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours to see if the computer will deal with itself.

Exceptional study. I merely approved this specific on an associate who has been doing investigation about in which. He / she actually acquired me lunchtime as I found it pertaining to him! Therefore allow me to rephrase: Thanks for lunch break!

With the e38 (740il) there is fuse for the oil sensor unit (30amp) that can cause the same indications when it blows. It often goes due to a corroded connector to the unit on bottom of oil pan. VMZ is probably correct as I do not remember the PPPP display. Let the ECU rest and reconnect and try again.

So express your opinion...no need to do a PM. If I am wrong, the other forum readers deserve to know...
