e36 coupe window problem

Postby milli on Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:40 pm

Hi guys i hope someone can help me with this one i own a 95 318 is and earlier this week i was driving along and when i went to put my window back up it got to the top and kept clicking like it was still trying to go higher. This happened a few times then stopped working altogether so i removed the door card and checked everything but nothing was out of place so with a gentle tap and holding the switch down the window moved fine up and down until i closed the door the window then when up a bit more but started the clicking again then when i opened the door the window had jammed. Could this possibly be a fault with the micro switch ??? as with the door open the window goes up and down as should even stopping just short .

Cheers guys and hopefully someone can put me out my missery

I can't help you any but I have nearly the same trouble with my 325is. The switch only works in increments for the pass. side window and neither side one touch up/down works. In really cold weather(-0) the window sealing function doesn't work either which can make for a lovely ride. Would appreciate some info on which parts need replacing.

Hello guys
am new here
well jus bought a 318is coupe and the problem am having is usually the windows should wind down n up a bit when opening and closing.
but then I had the lil slider in the rail of the driver door broken which I managed to change but the window has stopped winding down n up when opening n closing...
still it works fine with the switch

can anyone help me out on this?
I do think there must be some kind of sensor or switch which makes it known that the door has been opened and closed for the window to react...

so please guys help me out..

thx

The sensor for detecting weather the door is opening or closing is located in the catch latch for the door lock, the metal bit which the door lock locks to on the car frame. Its a little black button that is pushed in when the door closes.
