Engine vibration

Postby iceman35uk on Tue Oct 06, 2009 10:02 am

Hi, just bought 318i auto and it runs smooth as silk until it reaches around 3200 revs then the engine sort of buzzes vibrates, you feel it through the throttle pedal, then is smooth again when it reaches 3500 onwards, bit anoying as 3200 revs is around 80ish on motorway my usual cruising speed, any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards Phil.

Personally id give the engine a good flush with some ''novastop'' engine flush and then full oil change.
Can you actually hear the engine buzz?

Re: Engine vibration

Hi guys,

I have the same problem with my 318i M43.

Since about 4 months I felt this first that around 3500rpm the throttle pedal shakes. This shaking/vibration is quite hard and fast and very annoying!

I also feel that my throttle pedal is getting heavier to push under pressure at every rpm.

I went to the BMW service and the the computer showed problem only with my knock sensors. I changed these but this does not solved the problem. I already changed the oil separator but the problem is not solved. I also tried to disconnect the DISA but...same.

Maybe there is some vacuum in the system which occurs the heavy throttle pedal and the shaking?
Now I do not know what to do... any ideas? Anyone could solve the same problem?

Thanks,
Rob

No. I only feel the throttle pedal shaking. But this shaking can feel only between 3000-4000 rpm, but in this interval it shakes very strong.

Maybe this problem is in relation with the heavy throttle pedal...

Meantime I've spoken with an other guy who has the same car as mine and he has the same problem (heavy throttle pedal and shaking at about 3500rpm). So this is not an unique phenomenon :?

Update.

It seems that I could solve the shaking/vibrating phenomenon. I found a missing hex bolt on my intake manifold. After I screwed this hex bolt, I do not feel the shaking/vibrating... :P
