First call for help about 325 tds

Postby heyes on Sat Mar 06, 2010 8:19 am

Hi I just bought a 325 tds auto and I believe the head gasket has gone :( . There is over heating and water is brown colour. No apparent sludge in the oil. After about half a mile there is no power coming through transmission. The car has done 132k. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

You need to do a chemaical test (sniff test) A.S.A.P to determine if there is oil in the coolant. They aren't cheap to buy so just bring it to a garage. If you caught it early it wont be too expensive to repair but if you leave it much longer it could end up costing you so much it would be more economical to just buy another car!
I'd suggest you stop driving the car immediately and book it in with a mechanic.

Thanks for that I have the car at the garage and will find out Wednesday. I just wanted to know what the range of possibilities would be, from the cheapest to the dearest.

We have found a hole in the radiator which seems to be causing the problem but have now found a quite bad leak of diesel from around the engine block. Any ideas would be appreciated.

How big is the hole in the rad?
Is it leaking diesel or oil?
