fitting alarm to e36 compact

im fitting a alarm to my e36 compact ,every thing works ok but i cant find the wires to tap into the cental locking,i phoned the alarm tech number for my alarm ,they told me about the pink multiplug at the back of the glove box,but none of the wires that probed on this plug worked they told me pin number 4 and 17 were the lock and unlock but 17 was not even wired no pin in the plug. any ideas please :?:

Pull you door card off, find the central locking actuator and trace it back in the other direction?
