hi guys. any help on this one will be appreciated. i have a 1997 318is, she is stock to the max, only thing ive done is some stickerbombing. my problem is that this car seems very thirsty.... my average consumption is roughly 10,5 km per litre. is that fair or not, if its a bit high, what can i do to try rectify the problem? thanks a lot.

I think it's a very good mileage compared to my 1997 318i that does, on average, around 9km/L.
But it really depends on what surfaces you drive on (highway, mountain, asphalt or dirt roads), the ammount of traffic you go through, and how you drive.
I tend to drive on a mix of highway and steep slopes with and without traffic. Makes a big difference. I also put the pedal to the metal quite often :)
The best I've seen it do is 10.5km/L without traffic and mostly driving on highways.

Fairly sure E36's read out in litres per 100km not km per litre... so lower number is better.
My 328I gets about 8.5L/100km all highway, 10.5L town/highway and 12.5L spirited driving.

The numbers I showed are converted to km/L.
