Gas struts

Has anyone heard about the gas struts, that uses pressurised N2?

I found this on ebay, and want to know if this would fit my E36:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... TQ:AU:1123

What is the equivalent in my E36 system? spring struts? Or anything else.

Further, the dealer say: struts has to measure 360mm eye center to eye center. Why is that? Does it mean not all E36 were created equal?

Thanks for sharing thoughts

The equivalent in your e36 system? Don't you have gas struts the hold your bonnet up when you're having a look in there? Or hold your boot open? They are gas struts.

If the dealer says you need 360mm eye to eye and thats what the auction is offering it's all good?

I couldn't talk about the convertible but I know the coupe and sedan have different bonnets so it would be a reasonable assumption that different length gas struts are required.
