Help -- replace Z3 fan blower resistor pack

Postby openskyr on Wed May 20, 2009 5:37 pm

My 98 Z3 with manual a/c has a fan that only blows on the highest fan setting (speeds 1-3 don't work). I tried replacing the fan switch but that had no effect. I found a blog saying to replace the fan blower resistor pack, so am now tearing apart the drivers' side. Trouble is, the blog shows an item with a 4-sided housing and a 4-pin connector angled inside, and my online tech manual shows a completely different looking resistor.

Does anyone know which part I should be looking for???? I'd really like to get this done and get back on the road!
thanks...

well, I ordered one and got part # 64 11 6 912 633 from Behr Hella. I've partially disassembled the interior but so far can't find a part similar to this. Can anyone tell me exactly where this blower motor resistor is located and how to remove it? It's tight and fiddly under the Z3 dash, and I'm afraid of breaking something!
