How do I tell if I have a sports package?

I just bought a 1997 328i here in Colorado. It has the 16" rims and I think the seats are sport style an the suspension is stiff and the thing bites into corners too. But I cannot find the options list under the rear bench or anywhere else on the car. It appears to be all stock. Can I just give my VIN to a BMW dealer and they can tell me? Thanks!!

OK, the dealer faxed me a full option list! Too cool.

So I just bought this 97 328i with the sport suspension, sport seats, 5 speed in Arctic Silver with black interior. 184,000 miles on this machine and it is straighter and glossier than most newer ones!

It needs a clutch soon and the glove box light is disconnected and the car wanders a bit at speed and the stereo LEDs are out and the driver side make up mirror light is out.

Also the fuse was missing for the sunroof. I replaced it and it works. I wonder why it was taken out???

Also, there is no key fob - just 1 regular key.

I am in Bimmer heaven.

I will be selling my 2002 530i with auto trans. It is just too boring.

Have you investigated the wandering at high speeds? Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that could be a pretty penny to repair!!!

I have not investigated it, but my trusted mechanic tells me he can rebuild the entire suspension for $1,500 if it needs it. I hope that will not be the case, of course, but I love this car and it's better than making payments for some brand new car that I am afraid to open the hood on.

What I hope is that my mechanic is right and that the rear control arm bushings are mainly at fault.

I'm just glad to have the car at this point.
