So how'd you go? Did you end up fitting a new filter? If so what did you go with and are you happy?

I have been planning on getting the AFe stage 1 kit. It has a huge 4 1/2" filter with a tube that tappers down gradually. Comes with heat shield as well. Check out this link if your interested:

From the research I've done this is the one to get. I dk about the KNN one, but my friend's dad has the conforti intake in his M3 and its pretty nice too but this one you can find for a little cheaper if you look around, and its prolly a bit better in performance as well. I dk when I'll be able to afford it, but I will def post when I get it installed and let you guys know how it is. The article on that link is claiming 36hp/25ft-lb gains, but that seems a little exaggerated to me. It'd be nice to be wrong here tho.

On the ASC; I have '93 and she didn't even come with it, just the limited slip in the rear. And I definitely prefer it this way, although it has almost gotten me into trouble a few times... I like going sideways a little too much :D

:| 4 1/2" just seems excessive.

I've seen quite a few different intake systems for e36's but I can't see much difference.
Unless there is some flared tube inside the filter(working on the same principal as velocity stacks) and I guess how well the filter flows, I really cant see how there is going to be any difference between a brand like Conforti and an Ebay special. A heat shield is going to help but other than that theres bugger all difference.

Well put a cai on my 94 318is and i can tell at times it made a little difference, but in the long run its not going to matter if your looking for more hp with out taking the other steps.

thats what i i have on mine.. it runs to the grill to the front bumper where alot of air comes in.. Only thing i had to do was relocate the horn.

This is the only kit other than DINAN that will really work well--
