Injectors

My dealer says my 98 323IS needs to have the injectors replaced at a significant cost. A has only 115 k miles and I never bought the least expensive gas. Is this typical and are there any alternatives?

Sounds like a good cleaning could be in order.....varnish build up kills injector....try running a bottle of GOOD QUALITY fuel injector cleaner though.....1/2 tank of gas full bottle.....use it with the highest octane you can purchase.... I did it to my 325is....OMG what a difference.

Injectors can be properly cleaned but not many people will do it. Those injector sprays can work and do make a big difference if the build up isn't to bad but if they are then the sprays may not work. Try the method KD2112 mentioned and if that fails then try ringing a few mechanics and finding someone who will properly clean them. Don't know if you will find anyone willing to do it, its alot of work to pull out all the injectors and clean them, refit them and let you drive off home only to come back a week later saying it hasn't worked.
