car broke down day or 2 go

was drivin long nd needle on d rev dial started goin out of control rapidly
engine slowly died out nd der was no response out of accelerator

found a hole in rubber boot which i replaced

engine started but wont tick over peacefully and revs high and low and den cuts out....

any ideas on wat d problem is????????
maybe d sensors,,im not sure

mileage is 128k

What rubber boot? There's dozens of rubber boots on a car.

What have you checked so far?

d air flow rubber boot....which goes frm d air box t d hed.....

aven ad chance t check wit work...
mite jus get a diagnostics dun towards end of week..
4 round 3 weeks b4 it broke down it was actin funny...
every mornin wen i started it it wud conk out unless i held my foot on accelerator continously 4 at least a min or 2...
i tot it ws jus d cold weather bt ovisli it wasn

Was it idling really rough b4 it conked out?

yes.......wasnt healthy atal

Once the revs built up did it behave normally?

That link probably does'nt sound very likely to fix your problem but trust me it will do wonders!!

found out dat its 2 do wit d fuel pump after al da......

im amazed tho bcos i onli replaced d fuel pump bt 3 months go....

bt ders severe confusion ova it...

basically wen i removed d fuel pump(the 1 frm 3 months ago) it was a white one with only one tube comin outa d top of it....of which u connect.....bt wen i bot d new 1 frm gsf 3 months go dey gave me a blue one wit 2 tubes da cum ou d top it even tho ders onli one connection t go onta it......nd i was told it wil wrk grand once u keep a cap over d second tube which doesn get used..........

and den i ws told dat de fuel pump wit onli one connection on d top onli goes up to 1995 models......nd mine is a 98.......and tats wt ws on it originally........strange....

maybe psi of d fuel pump i got isnt up to scratch????

Im not sure to be honest, i did my apprenticeship at a mitsi garage and then worked at a toyota dealer. Im not to familiar with the fuel delivery system on bmw. Why did you change the fuel pump 3 months ago? Was it giving up or did you just decide it was time enough to change it? The last owner may have put a higher rated fuel pump in from a 318 or 320.
It does'nt sound right to have a inlet/outlet pipe on the pump just to put a cap over it though!!
