Red light next to steering wheel?

I have a 1994 BMW 325is and next to the steering wheel is a small red light that will not turn off. Even if the car is turned off the light stays on. Anyone know what this light means or why it is turned on.

does it flash when the car is locked and solid when the car is moving.... if so it sounds like an imoblizer light

no, it was off but just came on and is always solid.

If you don't wanna post pics you best option is trace the wires from it and see where it goes. Immobilizer makes the most sense but then they usually flash and are installed in the center infront of the shifter.

right now im thinking it is the security system on the car since it is still on with the car off.
