Welcome to the forum :-)

I've seen a problem in which the ABS light turned on all the time and if you pressed the brakes hard, you'll notice the ABS doesn't engage. Is this the same problem that you have? If yes, the problem was in the ABS relays. You'll need to check both relays, I think one of them (or may be both) need to be changed.

I've read about ABS-related problems, and it can be many things.

One of the most common problems is faulty wiring in the hydraulic pump. This part has a film-like material that connects the valves to make it all work when it's supposed to. It doesn't age gracefully and tend to fracture, leaving you with a non-operating ABS.

Here is a nice link that shows how to dismantle your hydro-pump and rewire it: http://m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=145202

Hope it helps.

PS: Nice looking sedan, BTW! Love those LED reat tail lights.

First of all, Tony....you`re the best with this forum.
Second...YES, when a press hard the brake ABS doesn't engage.
I have check both relays, have change them with 2 of my friend E36 and....nothing, still show ABS
Javier....in the forum that you give me talk about 1995 and 1996, sorry but mine is 1994, what can i do ?
Thanks a lot !!!

Javier is right if you do your own wires on the abs pump it more times than not fixes the problem. but as you said you have a 94 bmw so my sujestion is to use the linked forum post as a rough guide more than a step by step how to. chances are it will be the same or very very similar to your car. so similar that im sure you wil be able to figure out anything that is slightly diffrent, but in saying that i would dought it would be.

Well, you have to see if you have a similar part in your 94er. Go to this site: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ and enter your car's VIN. The site will tell you some very interesting info about your car. Moreover, you will be able to see which parts fit your car. The interesting section is 34 BRAKE, 20 CONTROL SYSTEMS - HYDRO UNIT ABS.

That'll tell you the unit part number. Mine is 34511162294. Just see if it changes for models from later years. If it doesn't change then that info on the forum could apply to you.

But remember, a faulty ABS can be a consequence of many factors. One of them is the cracked wiring film I mentioned. Maybe you can take the hydro unit out and inspect it. If you see the film has cracks, then we are dealing with the problem described and solved in that link I posted. The guy that wrote the DIY tested his unit after re-wiring it, and posted a table with the correct measured numbers. I guess you can test your unit without re-wiring it and see if it spits the same numbers.

Did you scan your car for faults? Did you get any problems?

I had this light on my dash to and it turned out to be because one of my front brake pad sensors was bad. In this case the red break light warning was also lit.

I don't understand.. It's the same with my car. I don't have an ASC, only ABS.

If you have ABS then you must have a hydraulic pump. That webpage where you put your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) can tell you the part number of your hydraulic pump.

Nobody said anything about ASC. At least I didn't :?

The whole idea of using you car's VIN was to find out the part number of your ABS hydraulic pump. And then compare it with models from later years, to see if a '94er uses the same part as, say, a '95er.

If it is the case, then you can follow the DIY as it will show the same parts your car uses.

Well, it can also be that this hydraulic pump is not the source of the malfunction. Hope you find it soon, and have it fixed :)
