Hi guys, Ive just bought my first BMW. 1997 323I coupe. I only have one key with it and it has a BMW button on which when pressed an orange LED flashes on the key. However nothing happens with the car, I have to open it using the key in the door lock.

I have read how to re-program a BMW key but they all seem to be for 2 or 3 button keys. Mine is a single button key. Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to the forum. This light is not supposed to do anything with the car. It's supposed to just help you when it's dark to find the switch where you should put the key to start the car and that's it. Nothing to start the car remotely or anything like that.

I have the same issue. I disconected the battery to change the rear light and computer, put the new items on, reconected the battery and now the remote wont lock or unlock the doors. Does anybody have any ideas on how to put this right.

Thanks.

Hi Guys, i have sorted this, it turns out there is nothing wrong with the remote. There was a short on the computer PCB. It meant that all power was on.
