I hear the groans already and im sorry to post this. But im a new BMW owner just over from the school of honda and im not new to the idea of car mods but as ive never done european i found the forum for my car and figured id hit up the pros. Now i have just ordered my K&N filter and some light body modifications and i was hoping you could point out the best exhausts and possibly a header and a chip for my 1995 bmw 318i also what are the best spark plugs available for my motor. i looked for iridium ngk's but they dont seem to carry them for the m42. any suggestions guys? thanks !

Regarding plugs...I put in Bosch Plus 4, #4417 in my 1995 325i and have been running them for 5000 miles so far, and am very happy with them. I had used them for about 20,000 plus miles in my 1995 Saab 900SE with V-6 (Plug # 4418) and had slight improvement in mileage, and notable improvement in performance. There are a lot of mixed 'judgements' on multi-tip plugs. They have been good for me in everything I used them in. I recently checked the plugs in the Saab and still see no reason to change them after 20,000 miles. :)

After reading more on iridium plug, particularly NGK's I think I will do them to compare with what I am getting performance and mileage from my Bosch Plus 4's. :)

Iridium(Denso and NGK) has always treated me well. They last a long time so you can forget about them.

I'd sooner poke myself in the eye than run +4s. I have personally seen them, more than once, lose tips and make a mess of aluminium heads.

Anything that I run hard gets copper plugs. You just have to change them more often. You really can't beat copper.
