sunroof vents, not closes

Postby E36beast on Mon May 17, 2010 5:21 pm

I have a 94 325is, I was on vacation and the battery died. After i got it started i lost the stop point for the sun roof. If it is open and i go to close it, it will not close, instead it continues to the vent position. I've tried to reset the sunroof the way i would in an E46 or newer vehicle, it didn't work.. Does this require the use of a GT1, DIS machine, or if i can aquire and other a modic BMW diag tool. I don't want to bring it into a shop because i worked at one and refuse to ever pay $120 for diag and another 100 for reprogramming. As i said i've worked at a dealership and i feel bad for people at the service writers mercy, they find more problems than techs do.. any ideas?.. or am i screwed?
