vibrating or knocking noise

Hi guys ive got a 95 318is and until recently everything was fine now i have a horrible noise coming from the engine bay. It only does it when warm and it first sounded like something was vibrating under the bonnet or on the exhaust somewhere but i have been under it today and nothing ??? Also it only does it on tickover whilst driving it goes away. Any suggestions ??? could it just be ready for a good oil change ???

i have a similar noise even though it sounds more like a persistent tapping.iv only just purchased car and needs a good service.could be dirty oil.id get it checked out.try running some sts fuel injector cleaner through a couple of tanks.in my oppinion it does help keep things clean but im no expert so id get it checked out

I'd be taking it to a mechanic pretty fast. I'm not sure I'd be game running it enough with that noise long enough to get through a few tanks and injector cleaner through it.

"Horrible" would sorta indicate its time to get it fixed before it does any/more damage.

true lol depends on noise i suppose i pointed out tapping noise my car makes to a mate and he thought i was overreacting as noise is very faint.maybe im hearing things..........

is it from the engine or the cooling fan??

I think the noise is coming from the front part of the exhaust so gonna get it into the garage to garage and get it in the air when i can get the time . It just does my head in as it only does it when it gets warm so was wondering if it could be a heat plate or something
