Headlight adjustment

Postby eshtebah on Sat Oct 04, 2008 2:28 am

What is the purpose of the headlight adjustment wheel with settings 0, 1, 2 on the dashboard of my 1998 318 Ti. Is it to compensate for extra weight (passengers, etc )? Hope someone can help.

Yep its to do with weight.

From the Owners handbook "To avoid dazzling the drivers of oncoming vehicles, you must adjust the dipped headlight beam angle to suit the load being carried in the car. Position 0 is used with 1 to 2 persons in the car, but no luggage or trailer (with trailer: position 1)."

Then next beside it there is a table for different models/load/position.
