What to do with a 316i.

Hello people, I'm new to this forum and I'd like to ask for your opinion. I used to own an E30 325iS with all the usual mods until I hit a Mondeo with it. Now I'm the proud owner of a very clean but very standard S reg 316i saloon. Given that I only have 1596cc's to play with, is it worth tinkering with or should it be left modest and trying not to attract attention to itself? Like the small kid in the playground.

the 1.6lt isn't much to work with.
unless your going to use forced induction it wont be much fun...
