I'm looking to buy some rims and tires from a guy. He says they're Continental Contitouring Contact 225/50/17. I'm new to this and was wondering if anyone knows if they'll fit on my E36? He says they'll fit on E38, but I don't think it'll work for mine.

The 225/50/17 is just talking about the rubber not the rim. Basically the 225 means that yes the will fit nicely with wise. The 50 says the are lot profile but not stupid low so they will still be nice to drive on. The 17 says that the radius is 17".

Also if you look in your owners manual I believe it has suggested size specs for rims/tires.

Hopefully you can make some sense of it.
