Best bet is going to be ring/visit a BMW dealer and ask for part no. 61 318 377 343

If you're really desperate to buy it over the net you may be able to send an email out to a BMW dealer and have them post it to you. Not as nice as buying it from a web store but saves you the phone call.
It is strange how hard it is to find one though, there seems to be lots of write ups on how to do it and yet no one selling them on the net.

If you were to do that I personally wouldn't be buying one, but the wider e36 community seem to be fairly interested in them.
I'm guessing they aren't exactly going to be cheap though... they are a genuine BMW part after all.

I believe the 1 Series E81 thru E88 also had start buttons. Dunno if they are the same as the Z4 or Z8... or different again.

think there all basic buttons mate you still need the key in and on ignition on to work why not try something aftermarket like
cheap and easy...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-ENGINE-PUSH-B ... 240%3A1318or a nice ford focus rs one

@dangerous_dave.
I don't know about Garry, but from what I know about myself and fellow BMW owners they quite often don't like putting generic or other manufacturers parts in their beloved cars.
You'll notice a lot of e36 DIYs around are aimed at retrofitting newer BMW technology for exactly this reason.
