yes dave, I do know u still need the key in and all, and I know there are cheaper alternatives... but they look crap, just like the one u linked to, it looks cheap and tacky.

I want something that looks nice and suits!

thanks tho.

I found it on pelican parts, they have it at an alright lookin price, im pretty sure that site is US yeah, so its about 180 aus for the button!

I have also red that u can make it so u dont need the car 2 start, but I rather for theft reasons..

but what I would like, is if the 3rd button on my remote (that turns interior lights on) could start the engine, now that would b worth it! could start it and let it warm up when im inside b4 I leave for work!!

Starting with the third button should be rather achievable. All it should require is disconnecting it from the lights and putting in a relay(if you're lucky). I think cause you have a later e36 you will need to trick the car into thinking there is a key in the ignition 'cause of the EWS(usually done by cable tying one behind the dash near the ignition barrel and antenna). That way you could get out of it cheaply. Only foreseeable problem would come from making sure it turns the engine over long enough without having it still try and start the car once it's already going.

I understand that, I was just talking about making the car do it with its normal remote rather than installing a whole alarm system just to get remote start. IMHO would be more effort to get the BMW key to work with the alarm system than the way I suggested and Garry already stated that he wanted to use the third button on the BMW remote.
