1997 E36 328i Auto Engine Not Starting

Postby sufian1966 on Mon Sep 27, 2010 4:06 am

Hi,

I'm using 1997 E36 328i Petrol Auto.

The car refused to start. I've changed the sparkplugs, check the voltage to fuel pump (the fuel pump is good), fuse is OK. Towed the car to a workshop - did a compression test. Reading is only half than what it should.

What may be the cause of the car won't start? Is it the low compression? How can it be cured?

thanks!

Check the ignition coil, that the box the spark plug leads go to. Start with the easy most common problems and then work up to the bigger problems. Low compression wont cause the car to not start, will just make it run sluggish.
