e 36 boot lock not working

Postby dsbowler15 on Sun Feb 22, 2009 11:17 am

Hi all i have a 1992 e36 which i have to open with the key to get the central locking to open the boot due to the alarm being removed as developed a fault.
How ether yesterday this this stopped unlocking the boot and also if i use the key directly in the boot lock this will also not unlock it.
I am guessing that the rod that the button would push to release the locking mech has come adrift.
This has made the boot compartment completely unreachable due to solid panel behind rear seat.
The only way i can think of gaining access would be to remove the number plate and cut a hole big enough to allow me to operate lock.
I would be able to hide the hole with the plate but seems a bit drastic any ideas ? ?

My boot wont open with my key either so it central locking for me.

I personally wouldn't be happy with cutting a hole behind the plate. I would suggest ordering a new lock/getting one from the wreckers then drilling out the lock. That should allow you to open the boot and fix the problem from the inside without cutting the boot lid.

Tried the lock turned out to be the power ram that deactivates the lock barrel when car is locked.
The only way in was with a tank cutter leaving a hole behind the plate !
