heater matrix

Postby Turner24 on Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:42 pm

just had a new heater matrix fit by a garage to my e36 1.6 coupe, because it was leaking water into my passanger foot well, and always blowing cold. it was fine for a few days blowing warm air and having no problems then all of a sudden my fan went ice cold then my engine tempreature went to the top, when this happend i took the car straight home and switched it off. today when i started it up it seemed to miss fire at first but after 1min it stopped and began running fine, but the fans are still blowing cold and the engine tempreature is going up quicker than normal and the fans are not heating up. i thought maybe it was air locked and after driving the car for 10mins i took it home and un screwed the air valves next to the radiator cap, alot of white air, what looked like steam but wasnt hot came out. i closed it before all came out because seemed to be endless then turned it off. do you think this is my headgasket or do i need to fully rebleed the car or something else?? cheers jack

Sounds like a hose may have come off and drained your coolant for you fill it up and look for puddles , leaks etc hopefully you havn't cooked the motor when the temp went way up..... I would try getting the garage that did the work to fix it for free since they did the poor job but get some coolant in it before you start it again and save whats left of the motor
