Is this an obsession?!?

Postby davsurfa on Tue May 03, 2011 8:42 pm

Ok so I know everyone likes a clean engine bay so I started by polishing and painting the valve cover and upper intake manifold, then painted the throttle body and changed the oil cap. Leaving the engine looking a bit tidier

But then I thought about it and the bay itself was looking a bit dirty and I hated it so I found some t-cut, Meguiars Paint Cleaner, Meguiars wax and a pile of rags and removed the washer bottle to get started.
This was the condition of the paint before I started(although this is on the passenger side cuz I took the pics afterwards)

I mean SERIOUSLY!! That is filthy! And yes my friends think I'm sad for doing it but this is the result

MUCH BETTER!!! Only took two hours, so I'll do the other side tomorrow night, then solvol the polished bits on the engine and then move on the plastics at the front of the bay.

However my otherhalf has called it an obsession!! Ha! I figure she's in work till late so I just thought I'd do something to pass the time.

Or is she right??

So it's been a while since I posted on here. I've now sprayed the sills and lower rear bumper in BMW Cosmic Black cuz they were in a nasty grey colour. Today I had the rear tyre changed to a nice legal one which was the last thing to be done before it goes for MOT. It's booked in tomorrow at 4pm for it's test, hopefully it'll go straight through.

Other bits to be done is fit 4 point harnesses, window tints and black and white wheel caps. Then I'll be swapping the nitrous from my Hyundai to the BM due to the fact my otherhalf will be having the Coupe and I'll be in the BM full time.

I'll take some pics of the sills and bumpers once it's stopped raining and get them on here and let you all know how the test goes. Fingers crossed!!
